The Child of Yesterday

A thousand cries

reverberate

throughout the chambers

of my soul;

I feel as though

an invisible finger

traces a tear drop

through and unseen maze;

No beginning, no end.

Yet it swirls around within.

I hear the timeless

voice of a child

crying out in vain;

"Moooommmy,

Mooooooommmmy,

somebody; Please,

come take away my pain."

Hauntingly it fades away

in hues of dingy grey.

The sun-rays pull me back

through the corridors of time

I feel its warmth

kiss my cheek,

the world swirls out of rhyme.

Yesterday is yesterday,

so the motto goes

But the child of yesterday

cries on

in the

chambers of my soul.
